Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a session cost?
Fee for a 55 min session is $190.00 with a Medicare rebate of $136.35. This depends on obtaining a referral from your GP. This rebate is available for the first 10 sessions. If more sessions are required, and this is often the case, there is provision to renegotiate the fee. Some private health insurers provide a modest rebate for psychological services. There is no GST payable for therapy sessions.
How will I know if you are the right psychologist for me?
The best plan is to have an initial phone conversation and then set up a meeting to discuss your current concerns. You will then hopefully have sufficient information to make a decision whether to proceed
Can I end sessions at any time?
Certainly you are free to discontinue consultations, but it is sometimes wise to have a conversation with the therapist first to see whether that is the best course of action and to understand the reasons for discontinuing.
How long will I need to wait for an appointment?
An initial appointment can usually be organised within a fortnight.
Are you able to prescribe medication?
As I am not a medical practitioner, I am not able to prescribe medication. That responsibility remains with your GP or psychiatrist.
