Welcome to Janiene Wilson Psychotherapy
Thank you for visiting my website.
When most people are searching for assistance from a psychologist, it can be a difficult task to choose one from a website. I hope my brief comments will provide you with the initial answers that you are searching for. If they don't please call or email me.
The psychology that I practice is called psychoanalytic psychotherapy. This therapy aims to increase a person's sense of personal understanding and freedom and is carried out in a variety of ways, depending upon the orientation of the therapist. My emphasis is upon understanding the unique emotional meaning of individual concerns and dilemmas that have resulted in a level of emotional pain and difficulty that can no longer be tolerated, avoided or ignored.
My analytic training and thinking assists me to take seriously the role of the unconscious influences and pressures upon individuals that may not be immediately obvious, and to work patiently to bring those influences into awareness. The goal is to bring about a greater sense of freedom and personal effectiveness in those with whom I work. It is not a quick fix therapy, and the number of sessions is determined by the nature of the problem that an individual may be facing. I frequently use several sessions of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy within psychotherapy. However, I am not a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.
